Come, Lord Jesus! Sidney Bennett, Coordinator
Come, Lord Jesus! This is a program committed to forming small Catholic faith communities. Members follow a well-defined, balanced structure for spiritual formation based on the recommendations of the Second Vatican Council, which focuses on four elements:PRAYER, SCRIPTURE, EUCHARIST, and FELLOWSHIP/CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY. The Scripture study portion of the meeting uses the readings of Sacred Scripture to be read at the upcoming Sunday Mass, which greatly enhances appreciation of the Word of God and our entire celebration of the Sacred Liturgy on Sundays.
Pro Life Ministry
The late Pope John Paul II challenged Catholics to confront the ever-growing “culture of death” by developing a “culture of life”. As Catholics, we believe that every life is sacred, from conception to natural death, and must follow the Lord’s command, “You shall not kill.” God alone is the giver of life; no human being has the right to take the life of another innocent human being and is permitted to take the life of an unjust aggressor only under the strictist circumstances. The evils of legalized procured abortion, infanticide, abuse, neglect, murder, and euthanasia are never justified. The Pro-life ministry reminds us of our duty to uphold the sanctity of life and dignity of all persons by praying the Pro-Life rosary, setting up for pro-life displays and distributing reading material in October and January, and raises funds for the Women’s Center in Lafayette.
Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament
A Holy Hour is one’s personal time with the Lord present in the Holy Eucharist; one may bring their own prayer books, rosaries, or Bibles or use those provided in the chapel. It is a time for the soul to rest and experience the sweet peace that comes from being in the presence of Our Lord Jesus. Everyone is welcome to spend some time in the sanctifying presence of Our Lord.
